what is wrong with my nokia 6630?

please help. my phone is nokia 6630. a week ago my phone suddenly changed into an offline mode. whenever i try to change its profile, the display reads “insert sim card”. but the sim card is already inserted. yesterday, i got successful in changing the profile but still without my network’s signal. whenever i try to send a text message, it fails and the display reads “sim card busy. try again later.”
what could possibly be wrong with it? a friend said, it’s the sim card reader that is at fault. and it has to be replaced. i’m wondering if a virus could be a possible cause of it, too. because i was getting “system error” display before in my attempts in changing its profile. the other features are working perfectly. if possible, i don’t want the unit opened especially in a haphazard way. please, if you have any idea on what i can do with it, please help. thanks in advance.
