The Nokia 3806 mobile phone is a simple, GSM, candy bar phone that is currently available only in China and India. While Nokia has made no further announcements regarding the release of this CDMA device in the UK or the US, it is possible that we would see another GSM device with similar features and specifications.

CDMA Tech Details

Nokia has been a supporter of CDMA technology for quite some time now. They consider it an excellent standard for radio communication technology. This is because CDMA has long been proven as an efficient method of making the most use out of a bandwidth. The initials stand for “code division multiple access”; and it is basically the process of sending various codes through a single bandwidth. To avoid problems, the codes can only be read by specific devices. Anyway, the 3806 was launched in China along with three other Nokia mobile phones that also supported CDMA -the Nokia 1506 and the Nokia 6316s.

3806’s Companions in China

The 6316s features full support for China Telecom Services. It is a sleek slider phone that had good specs, and a stylish stainless steel cover. While the phone is reportedly capable of delivering 3G speeds, the lack of 3G in China is a telling sign that the 6316s may eventually reach regions that support 3G networks. For now, there are no details of the exact services offered by China Telecomm, but it appears to be similar to the Ovi services or Verizon’s V-series of services.

The 1506 on the other hand is your typical Nokia budget GSM device. It’s a candy bar phone with no-nonsense features and a straightforward interface. Like any basic mobile phone, the 1506 has a hands free speaker, a voice recorder and a decent battery life. Without any other features or functions, you can expect this device to have a very affordable price tag.

Health Assistant and More

The Nokia 3806 mobile phone sports a “health assistant” feature. This is a unique feature in the phone that is not present in any of Nokia’s other devices -which is why we would like to see this phone released in the UK.

The health assistant’s actual details are sketchy, but from what we gather, its main purpose is to keep track of daily stress levels. Now, since there is no single specific symptom of stress, we can only assume that the device is capable of keeping track of heart rate, blood pressure, breathing and other related biometrics. It would then compare daily data with what is the established value and determine if the user is stressed or not.

This would also mean that the phone has unique sensors, similar to jogging bands that keep track of heart rates. Regardless of ‘how’ it works, this is an excellent feature for a mobile phone, as it is a device that is a constant companion, doctors would be able to easily diagnose a patient with the help of the device’s logs.

Aside from the health assistant, the 3806 also has a 2.2 inch screen, a 2 mega pixel snapper, Bluetooth and 4 GB of internal storage.
